Hatha Yoga
The practice of hatha yoga is an ancient pathway to balancing the body, mind and spirit using breath and asana (postures). Yoga literally means to yoke, bring together, or unite, and addresses the daily pull between opposites; day and night, male and female, hot and cold. Hatha yoga comes in many styles including Integral, Vinyasa Flow, Iyengar, Kundalini, among many others. Each style uses a wide variety of paces, breathing techniques, class structures, teaching methods, and physical exertion. Asanas, or postures, facilitate balance, lengthening, & strengthening of the physical, mental, and spiritual realms. Yoga is practiced to improve the body's physical health and clear the mind in preparation for meditation in the pursuit of mindfulness and raising consciousness.
